Phil Nelson is an amateur doodler who likes to draw pictures of himself frolicking on the beach. He taught himself to read by staring
vacantly at Marvel comics and paperback collections of Peanuts. He developed his fine social skills by studying the Three Stooges and Bugs Bunny cartoons. At the age of six, he created a crude comic strip called COCONUTS as a rip-off of...tribute to Charles Schulz.
Phil attended the Philadelphia College of Art from 1983 to 1984 or '85. He was forcibly expelled by the students and faculty because they were all just jealous. After despairing away in dank, sweaty, poorly-ventilated print shops for twenty years, he decided to try drawing again. He is still trying. Phil lives in Pennsylvania with his wife, daughter, sheltie
and two cats, who are both vicious, bloodthirsty killers.
You can view COCONUTS at Mad Hatters' Review, where Phil serves as Cartoon Editor. You can also view his strip on the new spring issue of kenagain and at The Incredible Art Department of Princeton Online.
